Originally by: ReaperOfSly I tried to start a game in an open thread, but it got locked too soon. So I'm proud to present the official Mornington Crescent thread!
We'll start with the standard Hodgkin's rule set, with aces high and multilateral sweeps allowed.
Use this for map references.
I'll start with Earl's Court. It's a risky move for opening play, but should open up the possibility of a triple roundabout loop later on if I'm lucky.
Earl's Court. Hmmm. Let me think ...
OK, I reckon a reversed line namesake play will take you to Barons Court. That should score me a double wicket for the "Court" and triple upper for correctly noting no possesive apostrophe in "Barons"!

Edited by: Fink Angel on 07/07/2008 19:24:50 I don't think you can play any of the Clapham trio this early in the game.
It was modified in the Wilkington ruleset to stop the Northern line southern gambit from being played too early.

Train departed while you were reading the map. You must miss a turn.
I move to Leicester Square.
I'm rather disappointed that you leave me no choice, I'm going to call the 1624 recursive maneuver , stomp twice on the ground, and move to Royal Court
I don't think you can play a tube station, that doesn't exist!

I hope I'm still in with a chance, as I've been planning my next move on my commute home on graph paper.
Hopefully not too early in the game, but I'm playing Heisenberg's uncertainty rule.
Shepherd's Bush - pick one of Central OR Hammersmith & City line stations.
But you won't know which one until you go there, and when you do, it still might be the other one.
Get out of that and stay fashionable!

Pssshhh, Heisenberg's is inadmissable during British Summer Time as you surely must know.....that said....Goodge Street
Ah yes but he does have a point on forward planning there. I take Hammersmith, as a key strategic point.
Nice work, another double station. I travel along to Heathrow Terminal 4, where I should pick up some long distance milage interconnect points at least.
The BST rule above that caught me out earlier now counts in my favour for the summer holiday station interchange footfall rule bonus.

Jeez, you guys are good.
I'm a bit stumped now. I'm wondering if I play East Acton whether I can go for the full West, North, East Acton surrounding ploy? (Doh! Why is there no "South Acton"??)
Hmmm, no, on second thoughts I think not, that's too risky.
I'm going to go for the Tucker-Alan-Benny triumverate manouver ... Grange Hill.
(As an aside, have you seen this, it's pretty cool ... True Geographical Tube Map ?)
